TGN Leadership
Texas Green Network’s Leadership has a governing Texas Board of Directors with local chapters represented by Chapter Presidents. We also have a Local Chapter Board of Directors for each functional local chapter.
Texas Board:
Reed Sternberg, Texas President
Reed is co-founder and “idea guy” behind the Texas Green Network and a passionate organization builder, community builder and environmental advocate. Reed’s professional career includes twelve years in technology sales and marketing and, more recently, five years in small business banking and commercial lending. Reed enjoys the water and life in central Austin with his wife Lisa and two children Zac and Lucy.
Paul Severin, Operations Director, Board Secretary, Interim Treasurer
Paul is a life-long Austinite and a graduate of the University of Texas School of Business. He is Co-Founder of the Texas Green Network and serves as the Operations Director. His professional background includes work in sales, marketing, management, consulting and training for the high-tech, alternative energies, and recycling industries. Paul is also an avid bicycler and enjoys sailing on Lake Travis.�
Melanie McAfee, Program Director
Melanie McAfee, Founder and Visionary Artist for Barr Mansion & Artisan Ballroom As business owner of Barr Mansion since 1981, Melanie has been hosting events averaging 20,000 people per year. She has championed organics since the USDA standards were begun in 2002 and became the first certified organic special event venue in the nation in 2007 by Oregon Tilth.
As an Eco entrepreneaur, her green ideology extends well beyond the food offerings. The grounds are also certified organic and the facility achieved Zero Waste and received a City of Austin Environmental award.
Active as a citizen, she has served on the Long Range Solid Waste Task Force, the Capitol Area Council of Governments General Assembly, the Mayor’s Kitchen Cabinet and the Sustainable Food Policy Board.
Her next goal is to create an eco-community at the Barr Mansion location showcasing the new urban organic lifestyle.
Will Dalby , Membership Director
Will brings over ten years of experience in the high-tech industry including global project management, business intelligence strategy, and international facility launches. He is a graduate of the St. Edward’s MBA program and holds a BA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In his off time, Will enjoys working on his East Austin bungalow, improving his cooking skills, Bikram yoga, and enjoying the Austin lifestyle with his fiancée Heather and friends.

Maribel Gonzalez, San Antonio Chapter President
Maribel Gonzalez is the founder and owner of Pure Green – Cleaning Service. Maribel has been a passionate advocate of sustainability for a number of years and is excited about the “green” opportunities in store for San Antonio. Her professional background includes 20 years of corporate finance. In her profession, Maribel has led large teams; had responsibility for global wide initiatives; and been awarded for her innovation, analytical skills, and drive for results. She looks forward to her new role with the Texas Green Network and in developing the San Antonio Chapter.
Austin Leadership:
Michelle Plew, Austin Events Committee Chair
Michelle Plew, our leader for Austin Events, is proud to locally own and operate a green company, Little Miss Recycle. Her sustainable company has goals of increasing awareness of recycling and implementing a recycling program at all local businesses. www.littlemissrecycle.com. Michelle also writes bi-weekly blogs for Austin Eco Network and for her company’s website about eco-issues, eco-tips and eco-living.
Karey Fundingsland, Newsletter Editor
Karey Fundingsland, our Newsletter Editor, was born and raised in Durango, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Environmental Studies. After a two year hiatus in Hawaii, she moved to Austin to pursue a master’s degree in sustainability from Texas State University.
