September 2010: San Antonio at Holiday Inn Sea World

Texas Green Network September Networking at Holiday Inn Sea World
Wednesday, September 22nd 5:00pm-7:30pm
Holiday Inn Northwest, Sea World

This month, the Holiday Inn Sea World hosted our San Antonio event, providing a great opportunity to check out some of their leading green hotel features, including water cisterns, solar panels, Green Screen and “eco-amenities”.

Tours were provided to TGN guests during the first hour of the event to learn about this Holiday Inn’s current pursuit of LEED certification.

Our speaker, Stephen Colley, AIA, LEED AP talked about combining “green living” and “green working” in everyday life.

Stephen has a private architectural practice in green design and consultation and donates much time sharing what green building in Central Texas really means. As the former Green Building Coordinator for Build San Antonio Green, he developed the criteria for San Antonio’s residential green building program and Build San Antonio Green, and served on the Mayor’s task force on Sustainable Policy. He is also the former Co-Chair of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment, a member of the United States Green Building Council, and a LEED® Accredited Professional, and the Coordinator for San Antonio Sustainable Living.

Guests got a chance to Sign up at the door for our open mike, a frequent Texas Green Network event activity, network with like-minded business people and meet the new Texas Green Network Board of Directors.  We enjoyed snacks and beverages provided by our hosts at Holiday Inn Sea World.
